Acrtichoke

 Storage Tips

  • Do not wash until right before consuming—keep dry and store in a plastic bag lined with a paper towel for long term storage. Will last for up to 10 days after harvest, but most delicious

Culinary Tips

  • Trim

Cut off the top quarter of the artichoke, trim the tips of any visible leaves, and snap off the stem so it sits flat.

  • Steam

Place the artichokes cut-side up in a steamer basket or heatproof colander over an inch or two of boiling water in a pot. Cover and steam for 40–60 minutes, or until you can easily pull off an outer leaf with tongs. Steaming softens the leaves, making it easier to get to the heart. You can also steam artichokes in an Instant Pot for 10 minutes.

  • Boil

Place the artichokes in a pot of lightly salted boiling water and cook for 15–30 minutes, or until a leaf from the middle pulls away easily. Drain upside down so water runs out.

  • Roast

Cut the artichokes in half lengthwise and roast to concentrate their flavors.

  • Grill

Boil artichokes until tender, then grill until charred. Finish with salt, lemon juice, or garlic aioli.
