  • Hon tsai tai is a purple leafy version of choy sum, a mustardy Asian leafy green variety that is widely consumed in Eastern countries.  

Storage Tips

  • Store in plastic bag or sealed container in refrigerator. The hon tsai tai should be consumed quickly after harvest for best quality, ideally within three days.

Culinary Tips

  • Best stir-fried with garlic and sesame oil and salt! Make sure to take care to not overcook hon tsai tai as the leaves are very tender.

  • Cook until the color is a bright, vivid green and the stalks can be pierced by a fork but still have a good crunch.

  • Fabulous is broth based soups and many other Chinese recipes.
