 Storage Tips

  • This is a storage crop! Which means it was bred to store deep into the winter without losing flavor or quality. Store (dry) in sealed plastic bag in refrigerator with several small holes poked in the bag, can store up to 4 months. Rutabaga should only be washed right before consuming.

Culinary Tips

  • Rutabaga is completely underrated as a vegetable. Think of it as a super rich, flavorful and creamy potato, and you’ll have an easy time figuring out what to do with it.

  • Peel the skin to avoid the bitter flavor. Purple stem end before chopping or mashing.

  • Mash with garlic and butter for a delicious alternative to potatoes

  • Toss with oil, salt and rosemary and roast until golden brown
